OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
ASHAD BOTNIX objective is to promote public awareness of our environment policy. The primary aim is to raise the awareness amongst the local farmers and collectors of Ylang Ylang flowers, the significance of the Ylang Ylang trees and the problems related to the fertility of the soil. Fair trade and sustainable development are the foundation of these initiatives. Through fair trade, the collectors of flowers are guaranteed a fair price for their flowers. The second objective is for people to use their knowledge to pick the flowers in an environmental friendly manner. The preservation of these trees should be the focal point during each step of the harvesting process. We are assisting several farms in the region of Hambao in Grand Comore where ylang ylang trees have been cut down for charcoal burning, by guarantying the farmers a fair price for their flowers that are harvested.
It is estimated over fifty thousand families who live in rural areas depend on income which is generated from different types of forest products. This has a direct impact on the socio economic status of families involved in the collection of ylang ylang flowers, clove buds and vanilla pods.
We have established an eco system reforestation project so that the supply of ylang ylang oil will not run out in the Comoros islands and the income that is currently supporting the women will not diminish.
ASHAD BOTNIX is contributing 5% of their profit which is being generated from the sale of their essential oils by providing health care to families and promoting ecological agriculture to farmers.
